Welcome to Second Grade at St. Mary's School!
Introduction
Welcome to our school, where academic and spiritual development go hand in hand. I hope you second graders are excited about making your sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion this year!
Behavior
We will manage behavior online through ClassDojo. Students have the opportunity to monitor their own behavior, as this program will keep track of any positive or negative points they earn throughout the day. Parents have online access daily to the behavior records.
Homework Policy
Homework will be given each night, Monday through Thursday. Students are additionally responsible for practicing spelling words and reading a minimum of 20 minutes every night of the week.
*Students who fail to turn in homework the morning after it was assigned will bring home a yellow homework note to be signed by the parent. That note and the missing homework are due the next school day. Repeated failure to submit homework in a timely manner could result in detention.
Family Sacramental Preparation
Your child will have the opportunity to deepen his/her Catholic faith this year! In class we will be discussing the sacrament of Reconciliation in the fall, and the sacrament of the Eucharist in the spring. Parents and Catholic students will also attend one retreat each semester to prepare.
